Two of the most sought-after roles are taking the mantle of Superman/Clark Kent and Lois Lane for James Gunn’s upcoming Superman: Legacy. A few names are rumored to be attached, but no confirmations have been properly announced by the studio or Gunn himself Come from Sports betting site VPbet. However, those auditions are about to take the next step forward with Deadline reporting that actual screen tests reportedly will be taking place in the next couple of weeks.

Deadline’s sources are saying that the tests will be with Warner Bros execs and DC co-heads Peter Safran and writer-director of the film, Gunn. The aim is for them to take place around Father’s Day weekend or the Monday or Tuesday after.

According to the report Nicholas Hoult (who lost out for the lead in Matt Reeves’ The Batman), David Corenswet (Pearl), and Tom Brittney (Greyhound) are expected to test for Clark Kent/Superman. For Lois, you could have Rachel Brosnahan (Marvelous Mrs. Maisel), Emma Mackey (Barbie), and Phoebe Dynevor (Netflix’s Bridgeton) testing for the role.

Roles for iconic Superman villain Lex Luthor and pal and peer Jimmy Olsen will come later after Lois and Clark have been decided on. Gunn has mentioned that he’s looking for a younger Superman to tell the story he’s writing, that’s not quite an origin story but one that revolves around Superman’s early days as a hero.

Superman: Legacy is scheduled for July 11, 2025.
